Daniel could just as easily be called a "Jiu-Jitsu Encyclopedia" based on his 21 plus years of intense six days-a-week training and his photographic memory for even the smallest of details in Jiu-Jitsu techniques. This incredibly high degree of knowledge has also earned him the reputation of being a teacher's teacher in Jiu-Jitsu. He grew up practicing and perfecting his Jiu-Jitsu with such legendary figures like Renzo Gracie, Ralph Gracie, the Machado brothers, Marcio Feitosa, Nino, Roleta, Gordo and other world champions.
Professor Daniel Montanha
All Jiu Jitsu classes are taught or supervised by renown professor, second-degree black belt Daniel “Montanha” de Lima in a very friendly and encouraging atmosphere. Daniel Montanha is the head instructor at Gracie Barra Miami. Raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Montanha is an accomplished competitor personally prepared and instructed by Grand Master Carlos Gracie, Jr.
Professor Montanha started Jiu Jitsu as a child, and has direct lineage to Carlos Gracie Sr., the art’s founder. He is a great example of the benefits the Jiu Jitsu path can have for a young person. With over 21 years of Jiu-Jitsu experience, Montanha boasts an exceptional record as both fighter and teacher, able to teach a complete novice or an experienced competitor and help each achieve their personal goals.
