Fundamentals and Advanced Classes

Head Instructor

All Jiu Jitsu classes are taught or supervised by renown professor, second-degree black belt Daniel “Montanha” de Lima in a friendly atmosphere. Raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Montanha is an accomplished competitor personally prepared and instructed by Grand Master Carlos Gracie, Jr.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the art that revolutionized the Martial Arts world and opened our eyes to the reality of fighting. Since then, there isn’t an MMA Champion who doesn’t train in Jiu Jitsu, whether he lists it as his style or not. To this day, there are still fighters entering the cage with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as their only method of training to ensure their victories.

The Fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

This class focuses on learning and applying the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Students practice various techniques using a traditional kimono, or “gi”. Beginners will learn and practice the following techniques: break falls, escapes, positioning, leverage, sweeps, submissions, escapes and counters.

The Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Sparring Program

The advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program offers a deeper understanding of basic principles mastered in the beginner’s program, introducing complex techniques and strategies applied by the world’s greatest Gracie Barra fighters and emphasizing real combat via sparring. Sparring is a form of training common to many martial arts. In Jiu Jitsu, sparring refers to friendly combat between two peers intended to perfect one’s fighting skills.

Private and Semi-Private Classes

Private classes are a great way to improve your jiu-jitsu game. If you are having difficulty grasping certain techniques or need to work on a certain aspect of your game, privates give you an opportunity to take your game to the next level.
